Fundraising = Overview

Raising funds for Good Shepherd School is the task of all of us and we do so in different ways. First of all, we pay annual tuition and fees which cover about 80% of the budget. In an effort to keep tuition affordable, we try to raise additional funds through programs, events and property rental. Good Shepherd is totally self-supporting without regular subsidy from any parish or the Diocese of Monterey.

Each year, the Parents Club is charged with raising funds for necessary improvements. The majority of this money comes from two major fund-raising events: the Harvest festival and the Auction. Additional monies are raised through the candy/gift wrap sale, the use of SCRIP, and the Hot Lunch program, among others. All of these fund-raisers are completely dependent upon parent volunteers and cannot happen without your direct interest and involvement. Each of them contributes directly to the on-going vitality of our school.

In a nutshell, the future of Good Shepherd rests in our hands. The more funds we raise, the more choices we have, the more solid our programs become. So please involve yourself, invite your friends, give of your time. Whatever you can offer, we gratefully accept.   But all of us are needed if fund-raising is to be successful.

Help Support Good Shepherd School

Here are some suggestions for you to help earn money for our school and/or to help lower your tuition. These suggestions are quite simple and have great rewards once you’re signed up. You may also find that you can earn additional money for our school by doing your shopping online. So, please take a look at your options and have fun supporting your school by buying, selling, shopping and recycling.

Safeway Club Card/Escrip: Pick up your club card at any Safeway and present it to the cashier every time your shop. Your card not only entitles you to grocery discounts, but you will also reduce your monthly tuition based on the total amount spend. Register on-line with Escrip. (Macy’s and Target charge cards can now be linked to your Escrip accounts.) Encourage family and friends to also use this program.

Nob Hill “Quality of Life Cards”: Stop by the scrip table or the office to get a card. These cards must be registered on-line. If you do not have internet access, the office will be happy to register you. Present you card to the cashier every time you shop. Encourage family and friends to get a card as well. Nob Hill will send a quarterly check to the school based on the total dollars spent.

Scrip: Purchasing scrip benefits you and Good Shepherd. 20% of the money returned to the school through your scrip purchase can be deducted from your tuition bill. This is money you and your family would be spending anyway. Did you know??? Union 76 and Shell have gas cards that you use like a credit card at the pump; You can pay your Macy’s and Gottschalks’ accounts with scrip; Sears scrip can be used at Orchard Supply. Scrip cash return to Good Shepherd runs from 2% to 20% dependent on the scrip you purchase. Look for the volunteers at the green bench selling scrip before and after school. You are also always welcome to stop by the office to purchase your scrip.

Scrip also makes wonderful gifts for friends, family, birthday parties, babysitters, etc...

Funding Factory: Bring in your used ink printer cartridges and your old cell phones. We send them to Funding Factory to earn cash for our school. Encourage your employers to support this program.

Last year we earned $250 in cash!

Box Tops for Education: General Mills is sponsoring a program for schools with Box Tops for Education. Simply cut off the Box Tops emblem on General Mills products and return them to the marked drawer located in the office hallway. Good Shepherd receives ten cents for every box top! In addition to clipping Box Tops, go to Box Tops 4 Education and sign-up. Go to Box Tops Marketplace (similar to Schoolcash ) and earn more for our kids! In addition, Box Tops sponsors a credit card with a low APR and no annual fee. Each purchase made automatically credits 1% to Good Shepherd.

Wamoola: You can support our school every time you make a purchase with your Washington Mutual Visa Check Card. Go to Wamoola for schools and enroll and earn points with every purchase where Visa debit cards are accepted – use it for groceries, movies, travel, and everyday stuff. At the end of every year, the school will receive cash based on the points we’ve earned. There are no enrollment fees and there are no limits to the points your school can earn.
