I
earned a BA in American Literature and U.S.
History from San Jose State University and
graduated in 1985 with honors.
I
have have two daughters, both alumni of Good
Shepherd. The oldest, Ellen, will
graduate from San Francisco State with a
degree in Liberal Studies; she plans to enter
the Peace Corp after graduation. Julia
will graduate from Santa Clara University with
a degree in psychology; she will be pursuing a
masters degree at the University of Texas.
I
am currently enrolled in the University of
Southern California and pursuing a masters in
Education.
We
have lived in Soquel since 1985.
I love working at Good
Shepherd because I feel like I am truly a
valued member of this community. I have been a
parent at Good Shepherd, as both of my
daughters attended Good Shepherd. I have been
a PAC member, a room parent, and in 2000 I was
named Volunteer of the Year. I have been
teaching Drama and directing the Christmas
play since 1995, and have been teaching 6th,
7th and 8th Social Studies since 2007. Good
Shepherd is my community and in many respects
… my family.

As
the Librarian at Good Shepherd, I am filled
with optimism and hope for the future and I
strive to live our school's mission everyday.
This is my 13th year at the school and I feel
our strength lies in our faith-based
community. Coming to Good Shepherd was like
coming to the Land of Oz, where I found my
heart and soul and it completed me as a
person. I am not content with just educating
our students. It is my goal to give each a
foundation to find his or her passion for
making a difference in our community. I want
each one to be spiritually challenged by
loving the Lord with all of his or her heart,
soul, strength, and mind.
I
am a graduate of Pepperdine University with a
Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. I hold a
California Teachers' Directors Credential and
a Full Catechist certificate from the Diocese
of Monterey.
Both
of my children are alumni of Good Shepherd and
currently attend Archbishop Mitty High School
in San Jose. My son Nick is a senior and
daughter Kristi is a junior. Nick will be
attending college in the fall on an athletic
scholarship. Nick runs Cross Country and Track
and Field, and Kristi dances on the Royals
Competitive Dance Team. Both are officers in
the Italian Club and are members of the
California Scholarship Federation/National
Honor Society.
My
husband Mike is a Captain for the City of
Fremont Fire Department and the Paramedic
Program Director at Emergency Training
Services in Santa Cruz. We celebrated our 21st
wedding anniversary this past September, and
are active parishioners at St. Joseph's
Catholic Community in Capitola, where I serve
as a Eucharistic minister.
I
am proud to be a part of a school that
embraces the Catholic education and spreads
the Gospel news that we are "Children of
God."

I
was born and raised in Santa Cruz. A product
of Catholic rearing and education, I have
earned an Associate of Arts Degree from
Cabrillo College (1991), passed the CBEST
Exam, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from
the University of California at Santa Cruz
(1993) and have completed five graduate school
courses in Administration and Education at
Chapman University in Monterey while
maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I am a life-long member
of St. Joseph's Catholic Community.
I
have been on staff at Good Shepherd since
1998. Currently I am the School
Extension Program (SEP) Director, the Computer
and Technologies Teacher, and a contributing
member of our Administration Team at Good
Shepherd. I really enjoy SEP, of which I have
been the Director since 2001. Our focus is to
create and maintain a nurturing, safe
environment where our students get their
homework done, participate in art projects,
play games and have fun. The School Extension
Program also provides a great opportunity for
our students to develop socially. It is an
environment that includes students from
Kindergarten through Eighth grade and fosters
relationships across grade levels.
I
have been working in our Computer Lab since
2002 and have been the Computer
and Technologies Teacher since 2004. I
have been touch-typing since second grade,
using computers since 1982 and have been in
school since 1986, with 10 of those years
spent in
higher education. I have spent my time at Good
Shepherd developing a practical, effective and
sequential computer program for our students.
I know the skills they will need to succeed in
high school, college and beyond. Of course we
start out with the simple skills of pointing,
clicking, dragging and basic keyboarding. Upon
graduation and leaving the program a student
should be able to type at least 40 words a
minute, properly format any term paper, create
a well-structured slide show on any given
topic in a matter of minutes, use the Internet
effectively, create charts, graphs, use
spreadsheets and discuss computer terms, parts
and functions at an elementary level.
I
have been an active member of our
Administration Team for the past five years. I
really enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to
have input on the focus and direction of our
school. The staff, parents and students of
Good Shepherd have truly become my extended
family.
I
really enjoy teaching because it allows me the
opportunity to have a positive influence in
the lives of our young people each and every
day. I come to work with a positive attitude
and try to bring that enthusiasm to our kids
and my colleagues. I love what I do and hope
that shows throughout my relationship building
each and every day.

This year, I celebrate my 25th year on
the faculty of Good Shepherd Catholic School
and my 36th year as a teacher. As
the Kindergarten through Fifth
grade Music teacher and elementary PE
teacher, I have seen this school blossom into
a strong community of faith, learning and
love, and I am happy to still play an integral
role in its continued growth. My passion for
music and education is fostered daily in the
spiritually rich environment of Good Shepherd
Catholic School.
I hold a Lifetime K-12 Teaching
Credential from San Jose State
University, where I also earned my
Bachelor’s Degree in Music.
A
native of the Bay Area, my husband and I
bought our cherished home in the Santa Cruz
mountains almost 35 years ago and raised three
wonderful children there. I have been truly
blessed in life to have a loving family and to
share my creative passion with the bright and
shining students of Good Shepherd.

Hola
amigos!
I have the privilege of teaching
kindergarten through fourth grade Spanish.
My preparation for Spanish education
began some time ago.
My mother came to this country from El
Salvador at the age of 19.
Her father had passed away and she came
to live with an aunt in San Francisco. While
studying English, she met my father, who was
studying Spanish. He began playing romantic
Spanish records on the telephone and
you can imagine the rest of the story
... they were married and I was born a few
years later. I
went on to grow up in a bicultural and
bilingual home.
In college, I decided to major in
Religious Studies and minor in Spanish. I
graduated with a B.A. from Santa Clara
University. I have also enjoyed travelling to
such Spanish-speaking countries as Mexico,
Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Venezuela
and Spain.
I
currently live in Santa Cruz with my husband
Ben, and two children Jacob (15) and Katia
(11). We enjoy bike riding, walking, skiing,
basketball and reading. We also love our pets
– Daisy our dog, Chiquito Sancho Sanchez our
cat, Joe Bob Junior our fish and Pacolina our
parakeet. We are members of Holy Cross Church,
where I am also a lector.
I
love teaching the children of Good Shepherd
School! The children are enthusiastic about
learning Spanish and I am so grateful to be
teaching in a Catholic community.
Catholicism is deeply rooted in most
Spanish-speaking cultures.
At Good Shepherd, I am free to teach
and celebrate various Spanish /Catholic
holidays and traditions.
I have also taught the children to pray
in Spanish. Thank you for entrusting me with
your children!
Muchas
Gracias,
Cindy
Tinetti
