I
am enjoying my second
year as kindergarten
teacher at Good
Shepherd School.
It has been a
huge blessing to be
included in this
community of a loving
and supportive staff,
parents and students.
I am in awe
everyday of the
Christian acts of
kindness I see at this
school.
I
have been married to
my husband Greg for 30
years. We both came to
Santa Cruz as young
children and have
stayed ever since.
We met at
Soquel High School,
went different ways
for awhile, and
married a few years
later. We, together
with awesome
grandparents, have
raised two great
citizens.
Blake is 27 and
married to Katherine,
our wonderful
daughter-in-law. They
live in Soquel. Our
daughter Emily, 21, is
now living in San
Diego and going to
school there.
I
have a BA Degree in
Sociology from San
Jose State University.
I have a
Multiple Subject Clear
Credential with CLAD
emphasis from Bethany
University.
I enjoy being a
member of the Teacher
Institute at Monterey
Bay Aquarium.
My husband and
I were Boy Scout
Leaders for many
years.
I
have taught young
children all my life.
I owned,
directed, and taught
at Rainbow Years day
care center licensed
for 44 children for 12
years.
My parents and
husband backed me on
this venture enabling
me the opportunity to
design this business
from the ground up.
We cared for
and taught children
from ages 2˝ to 5 and
provided a summer camp
for children up to age
12.
Upon selling
the large day care
center, I established
a small preschool for
8 years.
My
family then encouraged
me to obtain a
teaching credential.
While working
towards that goal, I
substitute taught all
over Santa Cruz County
for three years.
This was a
great learning
experience for me.
For the next
seven years I was the
primary teacher at New
Horizons School
serving homeless
children in grades
Kindergarten through
2nd.
My teaching
journey then led me to
Good Shepherd School
when the other small
non-profit school
closed because of a
lack of funding.
I am very
grateful to be here!
One of my
greatest passions is
teaching young
children to read.
I love those
“light bulb
moments”!
