I
am excited to be the 7th grade
homeroom teacher this year.
I feel that homeroom
is an important part of the
middle school students' day
because it gives them
time to prepare for their busy
day.
We begin our day with
prayer, the Pledge of
Allegiance, various quotes the
students bring in, and a
reflection.
This is followed
by announcements that
inform the students about
the daily activities for that
day.
Teaching
is my passion, and I love
being in the classroom with
the students.
I have worked in
education since 1998, and this
is my second year as a
classroom teacher. In addition
to 7th grade homeroom, I am
also teaching middle school
math and 5th-8th grade PE.
Though this will mean a
busy year for me, I know I
will enjoy the challenge!c
I
attended Cabrillo College and
then went on to San Jose State
where I earned a BA in Child
and Adolescent Development.
In December, I will
have earned a Masters in
Teaching from Bethany
University as well as a
California State Multiple
Subject Credential and a Math
Credential.
My major allowed me to
spend a lot of time studying
how children grow and develop.
This has proven to
be an incredible benefit in
the classroom and has strongly
supported my philosophy of
teaching.
I believe that every
student has the right to
learn, and I realize that
every student learns in his or
her own way. Through my
education I have learned to
present material in a
way that I hope engages every
student in the learning
process.
As much
as I love teaching, my first
priority is my family.
I was born and raised
in Santa Cruz and have been
married for 13 years.
My husband and I have
one son who will be 7 in
November. They are the first
joys of my life!
I feel
extremely fortunate to be at
Good Shepherd Catholic School, a
school that is a real
community. I feel supported as
a professional by my
principal, my fellow teachers
and staff, and by all of the
students and their families.
