I
attended Sacramento State
University and graduated with
my Bachelor of Arts degree in
Anthropology in the fall of
2007. During college I spent a
semester abroad in Hawaii and
studied Spanish at the
University of Costa Rica in
San Ramon, Alajuela. After
college I moved to Santa Cruz
and worked at a local
non-profit school for children
with Autism. It was during my
time working with students
with special needs that I
realized my love for teaching.
In 2010, I moved back to
Sacramento to complete a
teacher preparation program.
In May of this year, I
obtained my multiple-subject
teaching credential and moved
back to Santa Cruz.
When
I am not teaching, I am almost
certainly in the water surfing
or in my kitchen cooking. I
enjoy organic gardening and
learning how to cook
interesting ethnic foods. I am
also a huge sports fan. I
follow the San Jose Sharks and
Oakland A's as if I were a
member of the team. Lastly, I
love reading, traveling, and
learning about cultures from
around the world.
Growing
up in a small, tight-knit
community in South Sacramento,
I learned a lot about the
importance of working
together. This idea of
community has contributed to
my love for Santa Cruz and all
of the wonderful culture it
has to offer. I am so pleased
to have the opportunity to
work with students and
families towards common goals
of educational achievement,
social growth and community
awareness.
